As part of National Apprenticeship Week #NAW2017, Olivia Guckian our Technology, Effectiveness and Data (TED) Apprentice gives an insight into what it's like to be an apprentice at Maxus
What were you doing before Maxus Calling?
Before Maxus Calling I was working as an Au Pair in Germany after withdrawing from Loughborough University where I had been studying History and English Literature.
I knew I wanted a career in technology and Maxus Calling presented me with the perfect opportunity to develop my skills in this area.
What has been one of your highlights during your time at Maxus?
Other than the enjoyment I get from problem solving every day in the TED team, a highlight for me has to be networking with amazing tech companies such as Google.
What have you learnt during your apprenticeship at Maxus?
As my job is an extremely operational role, the learning curve has been really steep but this has also allowed me to learn how to manage my time effectively, as well as manage the expectations of account teams and clients. I’ve also gained valuable knowledge in how to interpret data and turn it into a meaningful story that can resonate with clients and consumers.
I’ve learned a great deal whilst working on Maxus Technology Effectiveness and Data. Not only have I had the opportunity to explore what each of the individual teams do in isolation, I’ve also learned that they work most effectively when they’re not in a silo. The TED team is really established as the hub of the agency’s work.
One of the best things about working in such a diverse environment are the people that you get to work with from all walks of life.
I’ve even learnt how to say ‘the grapefruit’ in French – Le pamplemousse.
